NSW has been in a climate emergency since the state election in 2019. Communities, threatened species and ecosystems have suffered disastrous drought and unprecedented bushfires and floods. Since 1910, when national weather records began, average temperatures have risen 1.4°C and the rate of heating is gathering pace. Below are priority policies to reduce climate pollution.

1.1 Reduce emissions by 75% by 2030

Set binding targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the entire economy.

1.2 Make NSW a renewable energy superpower

Set binding targets to source 100% of electricity from wind, solar and storage, and integrate new renewable energy zones into the grid.

1.3 Create a $2 billion regional support fund

Establish a Regional Diversiication Authority by 2027 to catalyse new investment in the regions.

1.4 Replace gas with zero-carbon electricity and green hydrogen

Enact a gas substitution roadmap to reach emissions goals.

1.5 End the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030

Implement policies to reduce vehicle emissions and prioritise clean and active transport.

1.6 Healthy, low emissions homes for all

Cut energy bills and create healthy homes for all by rolling out solar, batteries, heat pumps, and household eficiency.
