Meeting your Member of Parliament (MP) to discuss an issue you care about is one of the most powerful things you can do. Our representatives are driven to act when they hear directly from us.
Meetings like these can raise awareness, build pressure, and inspire action for nature and climate.
On this page you will find a number of resources to help you prepare, organise, and hold effective meetings with your MP.
Why now?
Right now, MPs are making decisions about the future of native forest logging. Constituents meeting with their MPs across the state raising this issue could be the thing that turns the dials and saves these forests for good.
Follow the below steps to be a part of this push and meet with your MP.
Step 1: Attend our next Webinar
RSVP to our upcoming webinar here:

Step 2: Identify your MP
To find which electorate you are in, enter your address on this website. Then find your MP using the name of your electorate on the NSW Parliament website or by doing a quick online search.
Step 3: Request a meeting
Feel free to use this copy-paste template as a first draft email to your MPs email address.
Subject: Meeting request – constituent
Hi [MP name],
I am a constituent from [suburb/town] and would like to request a 30-minute meeting to discuss nature protection and native forest logging in NSW.
I’m writing on behalf of [group] representing [number] of constituents from [suburb/town] to request a 30-minute meeting to discuss nature protection and native forest logging in NSW.
I/we would really value the opportunity to hear your perspective and to share mine, either in person or over the phone.
I understand your time is in high demand, and I will keep the conversation respectful, constructive and to time.
I’m happy to work around your availability over the coming weeks.
Kind regards,
[Name]
Step 4: Follow up
If you don’t hear back straight away, that’s completely normal. MP offices receive a high volume of emails, so a simple follow-up can make all the difference.
Here are a few ways to increase your chances of securing a meeting:
-
Send an email
Start with the template above. This is the most common and expected approach. -
Follow up the email
If youhaven’t heard back after 3–5 days, reply to your original email with a short, polite follow-up. This often brings your request back to the top of the inbox. -
Call the office
Call the electorate office and let them knowyou’ve sent a meeting request. Ask if they’ve had a chance to review it and whether a time can be scheduled. -
Visit the electorate office (if practical)
Ifyou’re nearby, dropping into the office can be very effective. Let them know you’re a constituent and would like to request a meeting. Staff will often try to find a time or note your request directly.
Step 5: Prepare for the meeting
- Be clear on your ask
- Keep it simple
- Share why it matters to you
- Be respectful and direct
Step 6: Have the meeting
Short cheat sheet here for tips and tricks.
Step 7: Tell us how it went
Fill out this form to register your meeting and let us know how it went.
Letting us know is an important step so we can compile all the information and use it to build on the statewide pressure.
Thank you for being a part of this important effort for our forests. Let's make it happen!
