Armidale Picnic for Nature & Walks [Multiple Events]

Please note - this is event has multiple activities at different times around Armidale. Please read the description below carefully! 

Co-hosted by: National Parks Association (NPA), Armidale Tree Group (+ bushcarers), Australian Plants Society (APS), Armidale Urban Rivercare Group, Friends of Angophora Bushland Reserve, Animal Welfare League NSW, Climate Action Armidale, Sustainable Living Armidale, Northern Tablelands Wildlife Carers (NTWC), Southern New England Landcare and Wildlife Habitat Group

Walk 1 - 8am: Mike O’Keefe Woodland, 78 Kentucky St

Enjoy a quiet dawdle through the reserve managed by Armidale Tree Group. An ornithologist will help you see and identify the birds. Park between 78 Kentucky St and bridge over Black Gully.

Walk 2 - 10am: Armidale Visitor Information Centre, 82 Marsh St

Explore Creekland revegetation with Armidale Urban Rivercare Group. Hear how forests of weeds have been replaced with native habitats and see where volunteers of all ages can help plant the next 21,500 plants. Meet at the visitor information centre for 4km walk along bike path.

Picnic - 12pm: Armidale Bicentennial Arboretum (above the water feature)

BYO: Please bring your own food, drink and picnic rug or chairs.

Enjoy: the wildflowers and trees, activities for kids and adults, and discover more about Armidale’s Arboretum. Find out about nature-focused groups in our community.

Whether your passion is koalas, frogs, wildflowers, skinks, Regent Honeyeaters or you simply love escaping into the bush- there will be something for everyone.

Walk 3 - 2.30pm: Drummond Park Bushland + Snow Gums Bushland Reserve, Apex Lookout, Jeffery St

Discover wildflowers of all colours, butterfly territories and identify birds and imagine the First Nations people who lived in this place until about 1940. ATG Bushcare volunteers will explain how they help the bushland regenerate. 0.5 or 2 km circuit walks from Apex Lookout (top of Jeffrey St).

Walk 4 - 5pm: Wildlife Corridor, Cnr Trelawney Rd & Rockvale Rd

Walk along wildlife corridor (unnamed public walking reserve) with CWC bushcare volunteers. 2km. Meet on corner of Trelawney Rd and Rockvale Rd (3km from Ben Venue School).
