We urgently need to act on climate to protect nature. Getting off coal and moving to clean renewable energy is our best chance to protect NSW’s biodiversity and have a thriving natural environment.
At NCC we are advocating for a clean energy industry that works to increase the protection and restoration of nature.
The renewable energy transition is a once in a generation opportunity to bring transformative benefits to our regions in NSW. We have been working with our members and key community stakeholders in the New England and Hunter Renewable Energy Zones to understand how we can get the best outcomes for nature and communities.
We are now excited to launch our joint statement, signed alongside 16 other organisations, ‘Strengthening NSW Renewable Energy Zones: Joint policy recommendations to improve outcomes for nature and communities’.
This statement includes key recommendations to the NSW government and to renewable energy developers, drawn from the reflections and learnings that people in regions have of the rollout thus far.
