POSITON PURPOSE:
The purpose of this role is to manage NCC’s climate program and win concrete results for nature by achieving a faster and fairer transition from coal to clean energy.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY
- Contribute to and execute strategic plans to achieve concrete impacts, aligned with our goals;
- Deliver our NSW Beyond Coal campaign, pushing the NSW Government and Parliament to achieve a faster, fairer energy transition;
- Manage a team of campaigners and organisers working on the climate program;
- Foster strategic alliances and coordinate the NSW climate movement as required;
- Engage supporters, member groups, donors and the community through practical and meaningful campaign actions designed to make a tangible difference to campaign objectives;
- Compile real-world policy solutions by engaging industry experts and movement thinkers;
- Write clear, compelling communications to shape the public debate;
- Embody values of creativity, boldness, and an appetite for risk-taking, and contribute to an inclusive and caring work culture; and
- Seek out opportunities to work in solidarity and centre the voices of First Nations peoples in our campaigns.

- An ability to design campaign strategies and tactics that get results;
- An ability to build and maintain strong relationships and effective partnerships; and
- Ability to manage a team to get results.
Skills & Experience
- A sound knowledge and understanding of the NSW political process, power dynamics, and key players;
- Understanding of the NSW energy system and/or climate policy; and
- Two or more years legislative or issue advocacy campaign experience with a political office, not-for-profit, trade union or similar organisation. Note NCC is a non-partisan organisation and welcomes candidates from across the political spectrum who share our core values.
Extra Points for
- Experience with NSW climate and energy policy, laws and history;
- Existing working relationships with a variety of MPs, staff and media in NSW Parliament; and
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental planning, engineering, law, policy, science or other relevant disciplines.

FURTHER INFORMATION & EMPLOYMENT SPECIFICATIONS
- NCC has a turnover of approximately $4 million a year;
- We operate under the federal Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHCADS) and this position is classified as Level 5 Pay Point 1 under that award;
- After-hours and weekend work will be required;
