Revive Our Rivers petition

Too much water is extracted from the rivers of the Murray Darling Basin. Sign the petition to revive our rivers.

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of NSW. We, the undersigned bring to the attention of the house that:

Rivers and wetlands are the lifeblood of the Murray-Darling Basin but are being devastated by mismanagement of water and over-extraction for irrigation.

We therefore call on Legisaltive Assembly and Premier Gladys Berejiklian to revive our rivers and wetlands by:

1) restoring natural flows to our rivers and wetlands

2) strictly limiting any ‘floodplain harvesting’ to ecologically sustainable volumes and rules

3) working with and being led by river communities on water management

4) meeting water recovery targets under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan
