Picnic for Nature started in 2022 and is now an annual NSW-wide event held in October. In 2023, there were almost 50 picnics held in collaboration by 63 environmental groups, with over 1,000 attendees across NSW.
Environmental advocacy groups (including NCC Member groups) come together to spend a day in nature with their community. It’s a chance to remind neighbours, friends and family of the magical ecosystems that are right on their doorstep and why they deserve to be protected.
Each picnic is as unique as the group who is hosting it and there are a variety of picnic styles and activities, including bug counts, identifying native flora and fauna, quizzes, bush walks, live music tree planting and more.
We would like the Picnic For Nature to be bigger and better in 2024!
