Local environmental groups invite you to the free screening of Voices for the Valley, a powerful short documentary created by 19-year-old award-winning filmmaker Jess Nipperess. The film features all three coal mines near Mudgee and Wollar, with a focus on the Moolarben coal mine – NSW' largest producing coal mine – and the serious threat posed by its proposed expansion — including the devastating climate and biodiversity impacts it would have on the region. Locals have spent over two decades resisting the destructive impacts of coal mining.
The Nature Conservation Council of NSW (NCC), Lane Cove Bushland and Conservation Society and the Lane Cove Coal and Gas Watch are hosting the free film event in Lane Cove Library, refreshments from 6.30pm, 7.00pm introductory speaker from NCC, 7.15pm film screening then time for discussion.
Help the local people fight back against this coal mine’s expansion which would lock in additional, destructive coal mining, creating more havoc on the ecosystem. Pledge to write a submission (submission guide available) as soon as the call for submissions is published.
When: Thursday 14 August, 6.30 pm for 7.00 pm
