End Runaway Habitat Clearing

Habitat clearing in NSW is one of the biggest threats to our biodiversity — and most of it is occurring on private land for agriculture. The laws meant to protect nature are broken.

In the lead up to the 2027 state election, we are calling on the NSW Government to fulfil their commitment to fix our nature laws and rein in spiralling land clearing rates.

Our current laws are failing — habitat destruction continues at alarming rates, and native species are vanishing.

Business as usual cannot continue. NSW needs nature laws that are strong, enforceable, and put the environment first.

We call on the NSW Government to urgently drive reform to a Nature Strategy and Biodiversity Act that is:

  1. Strong enough to reverse biodiversity loss and align with global goals
  2. Has clear targets, data, and accountability
  3. Puts ecosystem health above short-term interests
  4. Is co-designed with First Nations peoples, scientists, and communities
  5. Is guided by a commission to track progress and drive action
