Speak up for strong nature laws
Right now, our state and national environment laws are both undergoing once-in-a-generation reform.
The next twelve months are a huge opportunity to get things right for nature and win changes to protect the places and wildlife we love. To stop destructive land clearing, polluting coal mines in koala habitats, and logging that kills gliders.
Right now, people across Australia are calling for the federal government to implement stronger national environment laws, and to do it this year. Will you add your voice?
The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act is the national law that’s meant to protect our environment. But with Australia ranked as one of the worst countries for extinction AND a global deforestation hotspot, it’s clear our national environment law is not doing what it says on the pack. That’s why urgent reform is so important.
Federal Labor came to the last election with a promise to fix our broken nature laws. Now we need to turn up the pressure on them to follow through.
State and territory conservation councils are coming together to push for strong national nature laws. Not in NSW? Find your relevant state action here:

Dear Hon. Tanya Plibersek,
Australia is in the grip of an extinction crisis. We desperately need strong new nature laws that protect nature and provide a thriving future for threatened species like the koala and greater gliders.
To meet this Government’s goal of ‘no new extinctions’ it's essential that strong action is taken before even more irreversible damage is done.
We are calling on you to pass strong nature laws this year, including new National Environmental Standards to guarantee our beautiful and iconic plants and animals are protected for future generations.
