Stand firm against flood plain harvesting
The NSW Upper House this week voted to reject new regulations that would see irrigators divert billions of litres of floodwater away from natural waterways and into private dams.
If they had remained in place, these regulations would have also let irrigators take up to 500% of their annual allocation in a single year! The changes would have been disastrous for river ecosystems and downstream communities.
It's a reprieve, but the fate of our rivers still hangs in the balance.
All MPs need to know the community backs the scrapping of these reckless regulations.
Please email them and ask them to support measure that improve the health of our rivers.
