POSITON PURPOSE:
The Community Organiser will work closely with our Organising Team to build and strengthen our network of over 200 member groups across the state, ensuring we are a powerful voice for nature in NSW. This will include leading on the organising of conferences and workshops that aim to develop capacity for volunteer environment organisations and raise awareness for various environmental causes. A key part of this role will be managing volunteers to work together on these goals.
You may be required to perform other duties as directed from time to time to suit organisational requirements and which are broadly consistent with your role.
ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced and driven community organiser with a talent for supporting grassroots environment organisations, project and event management, and inspiring volunteers to take effective action for nature.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY
Your key objectives will be supporting grassroots environment organisations, organising various conferences and events, and inspiring volunteers to take effective action for nature. This will include:
- Capacity development across NCC’s network of 200 member organisations
- Leading on the planning and delivery of various events and conferences including community education workshops
- Managing and training volunteers

Key Requirements
- At least two years’ experience in a campaigning or organising role
- Strong understanding of the practice of community organising
- Demonstrated project management and conference organising skills
- Ability to recruit and manage volunteers
- Strong communication skills
- Alignment with our vision and a drive to achieve outcomes
Extra Points for
- Experience using NationBuilder or similar CRM software
- Understanding of NSW politics and environmental issues
- Existing relationships in the NSW environment movement
